Antananarivo is the capital of the country, a fairly large city situated at an altitude between 1200 et 1500 m. The Ivato airport is about 18 km from town. Antananarivo is the coldest region of Madagascar in winter and the city has a population of about 2,500,000.

Some of its most interesting sights : the King’s palaces at the Rova and in Ambohimanga, the Crocfarm park and the lemurs park.
